There are many passes avaliable for purchase! Unless you are going to be riding the "T" more than 5 times a day, Contactless Payment is your best and most convient option! Use either your physical credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay at the fare gates! A guide to that can be found below...
Here's a guide to which pass you should get...
CharlieCard - Best Option! You can either get a 1-Way ride, 2-Way Ride, or add transit value which means you can add however much money you want on your card! CharlieCards are reusable and reloadable! Also online card management if you need that option.
CharlieTickets - Often listed on the machine as "Quick Ticket" on the first page. These tickets are non-reloadable and one time use only.
CharlieTickets "LinkPass" - LinkPasses are either 1-day or 7-day passes. This is only recommended if you are going to be riding the "T" more than 5 times per day. As our FurRides require only two fare gate taps, this pass does not make much sense. LinkPasses activate once you enter the turnstile for the first time.
The MBTA fare payment works by taping into the station at a turnstile. Payment happens at the origin. Once you reach your destiantion, just walk through the turnstiles which will open for you.
Fare gates can be a little confusing... importantly the MBTA will charge your account every time you enter into a station. Once you've reached your destination, just walk out! As fursuits (especially full suits) can get big, we recommend you take the ADA gates. There are multiple places where you can tap your card which depends on what you have...
Once your card has been tapped, the gates should then open and you can walk through! Again when your exiting the "T", walk towards the fare gates in the opposite direction and it should automatically open for you! Need any help? MBTAnimals organizers and handlers will be around the station for your assistance!
